Week 3 Social Networking

I can imagine using Twitter to tell people there is a emergency situation with the weather, or open and closing times of the library.  Twitter would be helpful to announce interesting library programs and authors speaking at the library.  I could use Twitter to get the latest sports information and latebreaking worldwide news.
On my tours at the museum I can perceive using Twitter to announce the latest tours, as in currently the great Impressionist exhibit.
I am a hiker and bicyclist and we use Twitter to communicate upcoming rides and meeting spots and where to eat breakfast afterwards.
One thing I would be sure and explain to patrons about Facebook and Twitter is that whatever they post can be seen by people they might not want to have it seen and once it is out there it cannot be rescinded and is a permanent record and what they say should be carefully thought out...particularly students as my son had the experience of college admissions counselors looking at this FaceBook and Twitter postings and they were not happy about some of his postings.
Love Facebook; indifferent about Twitter; have learned to be cautious about what I post on Facebook.
